JASI is delighted to announce that our 2012 Annual Gala will feature one of the world's most accomplished ukuleleists, Jake Shimabukuro. The dinner will be held in its traditional location at the Indiana Roof Ballroom on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.
Ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro has taken the four-string, two-octave instrument to places no one has gone before, performing awesome music that ranges from jazz, blues, and rock to bluegrass, classical, and folk. His live performances are an out-of-the-box blend of stunning virtuosity, deep musicality and a natural entertainer's flair. Jake now has his own record label and tours extensively in the U.S. and Japan.
The program will also feature a presentation on Japan’s rebuilding after the 3.11.11 disasters, “Road to Recovery” by Tatsuhiro Shindo, Chief Executive Director of JETRO-Chicago, along with a report of the Japan-America Society of Indiana’s Special Projects to support the Relief and Recovery Effort in the Tohoku region.
A third pillar of the program will be a celebration of the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, AISIN, GECOM Corporation and other Japan-invested companies that were established in Indiana in 1987.
