Student Wrestling Team from Gunma, Japan
To Visit Indiana

The Indiana State Wrestling Association (ISWA) is an affiliate of USA Wrestling, the National Governing Body for Olympic Wrestling in the United States.  The IWSA and the Gunma Wrestling Association (群馬県レスリング協会) have had an active exchange for over twenty years.  Every year, they alternate between venues in Gunma and Indiana, and Indiana is this year’s host.   

“The exchanges help the youth in both countries achieve an international understanding with those with whom we share the earth.   Once a wrestler participates a greater and more compassionate understanding of the world is created. Similar exchanges have also taken place with New Zealand and Turkey.”

Ten middle school and high school wrestlers from Gunma Prefecture will visitthe Indiana communities of New Castle, Zionsville, and North Vernon, and participate in practice sessions and friendship matches with the American student wrestlers.  We encourage you to attend the matches and cheer on the Gunma students!
