TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2019 | THE ALEXANDER HOTEL
The Japan-America Society of Indiana will present the “Japan Update Conference 2019” on Tuesday, March 19th, at the Alexander Hotel in Indianapolis. The annual event is designed to inform our audience of key developments in the Japan-U.S. and the Indiana-Japan relationship.
JASI is honored to welcome Takehiro Shimada, Minister of Public Affairs, Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C., and Ted Saeger, Acting Director, Office of Japanese Affairs, U.S. Department of State who will share perspectives on the Japan/U.S. relationship.
The conference will also feature a special presentation, “Japan Accelerates in IndyCar” by Mark Miles, President and CEO, Hulman & Company, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and NTT IndyCar Series. Mark will speak on the new multi-year agreement with Japanese telecommunications giant NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone) to become the IndyCar Series title sponsor and official technology partner.
Panel sessions will include: the Impacts of U.S. Trade and Policy Tariffs on the automotive industry with Bernard Swiecki, Center for Automotive Research; and Labor on the Quick (current resources for workforce) with Fred Payne, Indiana Commissioner of Workforce Development.
Now in its eighth year, the JASI Japan Update Conference has become a signature event in the Midwest, providing a business economic and international relations outlook for the year with discussion of developments for Japan and Indiana, and key issues for the Japan-U.S. relationship in Asia. The program draws community, government, and economic development leaders from throughout the region. The 2019 Japan Update is presented with generous support from the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the National Association of Japan-America Societies.
